AI makes writing sales letters faster than ever. But let’s be honest, most AI-generated copy feels like AI-generated copy.
It’s stiff. It’s predictable.
It’s missing that human spark that makes people want to pull out their wallets.
The good news? You don’t have to choose between AI efficiency and great writing. You can blend the two, using AI to speed things up while adding the human touch that makes your sales letter feel real, engaging, and persuasive.
Here’s how to do it. Plus a few creative prompts to help you break free from AI’s cookie-cutter approach.
Step 1: Hook the Reader with Something Unexpected
Most AI-generated hooks sound like they came straight out of a template:
"Are you struggling with [problem]? Then this is for you!"
Technically, it works. But it won’t stop anyone mid-scroll.
A great hook interrupts expectations and makes people lean in.
Example: AI vs. Humanized Hook
AI-generated:
"Are you struggling to write a great sales letter? This tool can help!"
Humanized:
"What if the secret to writing a high-converting sales letter… was writing less?"
See the difference? The second one creates intrigue. It doesn’t just tell—it teases.
Try This AI Prompt:
Give me five unexpected, curiosity-driven hooks for a sales letter about [topic]. Avoid anything cliché.
Step 2: Tell a Story That Feels Like a Story
AI can spit out a "story," but it often reads like a Wikipedia summary. It tells you what happened but doesn’t make you feel anything.
Real stories have struggle, emotion, and a moment where everything changes.
Example: AI vs. Humanized Story
AI-generated:
"John struggled to grow his business. Then he used our product, and his revenue skyrocketed. Now he’s making six figures a month."
Humanized:
Three years ago, John sat at his desk at 2 AM, staring at his bank account balance. It wasn’t pretty.
He’d done everything the 'gurus' said to do, but nothing was working.
Then, on a random Tuesday, he decided to try [product]. He wasn’t expecting much. But the next morning, he woke up to three unexpected sales.
That was the moment everything changed."
This version feels human because it pulls you into John’s world. You can picture him sitting there, frustrated. You feel the relief when he sees those sales come in.
Try This AI Prompt:
Write a story about someone using [your product], but make it emotional and specific. Include small details that make it feel real, like time of day, what they were thinking, or a single moment that changed everything.
Step 3: Make the Offer Sound Like a Conversation
AI has a bad habit of overhyping everything. It makes your offer sound like an infomercial:
"This is the ULTIMATE solution to ALL your problems!"
People don’t talk like that. Your offer should feel like something you’d say to a friend.
Example: AI vs. Humanized Offer
AI-generated:
"This groundbreaking program will transform your life. Order now before it’s too late!"
Humanized:
Here’s what happens the moment you sign up:
✔ You’ll get instant access to [core benefit]
✔ You’ll have step-by-step guidance so you’re never lost
✔ You’ll actually enjoy the process (seriously)
And if you don’t love it? No worries—you get your money back. Simple.
No fluff. No fake urgency. Just clear, conversational, and confidence-building.
Try This AI Prompt:
Write an offer section that feels personal and clear. No over-the-top hype—just explain the benefits in a way that feels like a casual conversation.
Step 4: Close with a Nudge, Not a Shove
AI-generated closings tend to be either way too aggressive or completely forgettable:
"Act NOW before it’s too late!"
People don’t like being pressured but like being reminded why taking action makes sense.
Example: AI vs. Humanized Close
AI-generated:
"Don’t wait—buy now!"
Humanized:
Right now, you’ve got two options.
You can keep struggling with [problem], hoping something magically clicks.
Or, you can test this out, see how it works for you, and finally make some real progress.
Your call. But if you’re curious, I’d love for you to try it.
This lets the reader feel like they’re in control, which makes them more likely to buy.
Try This AI Prompt:
Write a closing section that makes the reader feel like they have a choice—without pressuring them. Keep it friendly and reassuring.
AI is the Shortcut, Not the Driver
Think of AI as a first draft machine. It gives you something to work with—but the magic happens when you tweak, refine, and make it sound like you.
So next time you use AI to write a sales letter, don’t just take what it gives you. Use it as a starting point, then humanize it.
And if you want more creative prompts to make your AI-generated copy sound real, let me know. I’ve got plenty more where these came from.
Now go write something awesome!
