Maximize Visibility with LinkedIn + Substack
5 steps to start growing your online visibility and attracting the right clients with ease.
How do I use Substack and LinkedIn for greater visibility and connections?
Every month, I review subscriber questions from the Reader Survey. Recently, a couple of questions about using LinkedIn jumped out at me.
I had already decided my focus for the first quarter would be to be more intentional about using LinkedIn. I was thinking about using LinkedIn and Substack as a one-two punch.
Especially since my ideal audience is solo business owners.
And I like to walk my talk. In my recent article, I suggested focusing on one platform. Well, I’m focusing on two and the reader’s question gives me a good place to start.
Use LinkedIn and Substack Together for Maximum Visibility
If you’ve been wondering how to get more clients by boosting your online visibility, let’s talk about a simple but highly effective combo: LinkedIn and Substack. When you use these two platforms together, you can create a powerful loop of connection and credibility that attracts the right people to your business.
LinkedIn is the best place to connect with professionals and showcase your expertise, while Substack lets you connect more deeply with your audience. By strategically linking these platforms, you’ll be seen and build trust and authority with the people who need what you offer.
Why Is This Important?
Visibility is about being remembered for the right reasons. Combining LinkedIn's broad reach with Substack's depth makes it easier for potential clients to see you as the go-to expert in your field.
Think of LinkedIn as the introduction and Substack as the conversation. People might discover you through a post or comment on LinkedIn, but when they subscribe to your Substack, you’re invited into their inbox—one of the most valuable spaces online.
Steps to Get Started
Let’s keep it practical. Here’s how to make this work:
Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile
Your profile headline should clearly explain what you do and who you help.
Add a link to your Substack in your Featured section with a short description like, “Get my latest insights delivered to your inbox.”
Promote Your Substack on LinkedIn
Share highlights or takeaways from your Substack articles in a LinkedIn post.
Add a call-to-action like, “I go into this topic in my latest newsletter—check it out here: [Substack link].”
Use LinkedIn Newsletters as a Funnel
Start a LinkedIn newsletter that repurposes snippets of your Substack content. End each issue with a link encouraging readers to subscribe to Substack for the full article or exclusive content.
Engage and Build Connections
Comment on posts in your niche, sharing insights related to your Substack content.
Send personalized messages to new LinkedIn connections introducing your Substack as a resource they might find helpful.
Create Substack Content with LinkedIn in Mind
Write articles that solve problems for your LinkedIn audience, then promote them with posts tailored to specific industries or challenges.

What Else Should You Know?
A key part of this strategy is consistency. You don’t need to post on LinkedIn daily, but showing up regularly (2–3 times a week) keeps you visible without overwhelming your audience. And make sure your Substack delivers value—every article should solve a problem, answer a question, or share an actionable insight.
Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try different types of LinkedIn posts—carousels, polls, or even videos—to see what resonates with your audience. Mix it up with shorter pieces or deep dives on Substack. Track what works and adjust as needed.
Combining LinkedIn and Substack doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does need to be intentional. When you connect the dots between these platforms, you create a visibility strategy that not only gets you noticed but helps you build lasting relationships with potential clients.
